If you have trouble using the Cable Matters Multiport adapter and an external hard drive, follow these troubleshooting tips to resolve your issue. Remove the Hub from the computer, then remove all devices from the Hub Note: remove the external power supply from the hard drive. 2). Connect the Hub to the computer 3). Connect an HDMI monitor or TV to the Hub, and check if it works 3). Connect a USB mouse/keyboard to the USB 2.0 port on the Hub, and check if it works 4). Connect an external hard drive to the hub, then connect an external power supply to the hard drive, and check if it works 5). If you have a USB-C® Power Delivery (PD) power adapter, please plug it into the hub
